Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with key partners, is organizing the first Africa Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization (SAM) as a follow-up to the first-ever Global Conference on Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization held in 2023 in Rome.
The event, taking place from 25 –28 November 2025 at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar Es Salaam, will bring together stakeholders to enhance regional collaboration, strengthen institutional arrangements for the successful delivery of mechanization, foster knowledge exchange and promote sustainable agricultural practices that address the needs of African farmers. By facilitating the implementation of the Framework for Sustainable Agricultural Mechanization in Africa (F-SAMA) across the continent, the Conference aims to accelerate the region’s transition toward more efficient, inclusive, resilient and sustainable agrifood systems.
Objectives
- Facilitating knowledge exchange on best practices, approaches and lessons learned from ongoing and prior initiatives.
- Fostering partnerships among a broad spectrum of relevant stakeholders including through the establishment of a regional SAM Centre.
- Identifying policies and initiatives to strengthen institutional and human capacities for the establishment of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) focused on SAM.
