Raxio Secures $380 Million to Expand Africa’s Data Centers
Raxio Group has secured more than US$380 million in committed capital to expand its network of data centers across multiple African markets.
Africa’s digital economy cannot scale without the infrastructure to support it. As demand for cloud services, artificial intelligence, fintech, and digital public services continues to grow, investment is shifting toward the physical backbone of the internet. This week, a major capital commitment underscored the continent’s accelerating race to build that foundation.
The investment will strengthen digital infrastructure by increasing local data storage and processing capacity, supporting the growing demand for cloud computing, AI applications, fintech services, and enterprise technology solutions. Expanding regional data centers is also expected to improve digital resilience, reduce latency, and enhance data sovereignty across the continent.
The development reflects Africa’s broader push to build the infrastructure needed for long-term digital transformation, positioning data centers as a critical component of economic growth and technological competitiveness. As data centers, digital identity systems, and locally developed technologies continue to expand, Africa is laying the groundwork for a more resilient and self-reliant digital economy.
