The 43rd annual Southern African Transport Conference 2025

The 43rd Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) will take place in Pretoria, South Africa, from July 7–10, 2025. This key regional event brings together policymakers and academics to explore sustainable transport solutions under the theme "Aligning Policy, Research and Practice."

The 43rd Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) is one of Africa’s most significant gatherings for transport professionals. The 2025 edition will focus on "Aligning Policy, Research and Practice" creating space for dialogue between governments, academics, and industry leaders working to build sustainable and inclusive transport systems.

Participants will engage through plenary sessions, technical presentations, exhibitions, and networking opportunities across all modes of transport.

Africa 2025: Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa

8th - 10th July 2025 - Accra, Ghana

The objective of the regional conferences for AFRICA, co-hosted by Aqua~Media International and ICOLD, in collaboration with the government of Ghana, is to bring together a group of experts from all parts of the world to focus on issues of specific interest for Africa, in the field of water storage and hydropower development.

Cross-border collaboration for transboundary schemes, challenging sites and climate resilience, as well as capacity building and training, are topics that always feature high on the agenda.

The technical programme will have strong input from ICOLD Officers and National Committees,  AUDA-NEPADIEA-Hydro, the major international financing institutions, the Volta River Authority and Bui Power Authority.

Ghana is an enthusiastic local partner for our AFRICA conference. The country has experience to share of large-scale dams and hydro plants in operation (Kpong, Akosombo and Bui), mini and micro hydro schemes, floating solar hydro at Bui, with plans for upgrading FPV to a larger scale. Delegates will hear of Ghana’s future plans, including studies for pumped storage, more FPV and more conventional hydro.

International delegates and accompanying persons will meet in beautiful surroundings, for three days of sessions, preceded by workshops and training seminars, and followed by tours to hydro schemes. There will be plenty of additional networking opportunities, and cultural excursions.

2nd International Conference ​​​on PEN-Plus in Africa (ICPPA 2025)

8th - 10th July 2025 - Abuja, Nigeria

The ICPPA provides a pivotal platform to explore collaborative opportunities to align the PEN-Plus initiative with other existing public health programmes in the region. Participants will include high-level policymakers, global and regional experts, donors, development partners, private sector representatives, civil society organizations and noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) focal points from Ministries of Health across the African region.

About the ICPPA 2025

July 8-10, 2025 | Abuja, Nigeria

The WHO Regional Office for Africa is pleased to announce that the second International Conference on PEN-Plus in Africa (ICPPA 2025) will be held in the Federal Republic of Nigeria from July 8-10, 2025, in Abuja. This year’s ICPPA will be held under the theme: "Advancing Implementation of PEN-Plus for Severe NCDs in Africa: Technical Innovations, Operational Insights, and Scalable Solutions."

Since our inaugural conference in 2024, countries have made progress in implementing the PEN-Plus strategy and scaling up life-saving care for people with severe NCDs. As of January 2025, 20 countries in the region were at different phases of implementing the PEN-Plus strategy. ICPPA 2025 will be a forum for countries to share best practices and innovative solutions to scale up PEN-Plus implementation.
